A sinus lift increases the amount of bone in your upper jaw.

A dentist often performs this surgical procedure if there is not enough bone in this area of your mouth for dental implants.

How long does the procedure take?

A sinus lift takes 1-1 ½ hours to perform. Your dentist can perform this minor surgery at the practice.

It takes approximately 6 months for the area to fully heal.

What does the dentist do during the procedure?

Your dentist will first numb the area then make an incision in your gums to expose the jawbone. A small hole is cut in the bone. Your dentist pushes the sinus up, fills the cavity with the bone graft material, and stitches the gum shut.

What after-care do I need?

You will need to avoid blowing your nose or smoking for several days after the procedure. You should also avoid vigorous rinsing until the area starts to heal.

If you have been told that your upper jaw cannot support implants, call Dentique Specialist Centre on 020 8360 0500 to book a consultation.
