The bridge is attached to healthy neighbouring teeth and is designed to fill the gap in your smile with natural looking teeth.

What is the procedure for fitting a bridge?

Your dentist will prepare the abutment teeth that hold the bridge firmly in place. Your dentist does this by reshaping the teeth so a crown can easily fit over them and provide an anchor for your bridge.

After an impression of the area is taken it is sent to a dental laboratory so your customised restoration can be fabricated and you will be fitted with a temporary bridge.

At your follow-up appointment, your temporary bridge will be removed, and your permanent bridge will be secured in place.

Will the procedure hurt?

A local anaesthetic can be used to numb the area during the procedure, so you won’t feel any discomfort.

Once the anaesthetic wears off, you may experience some slight swelling or soreness in the area. If this is the case, over-the-counter pain medication can alleviate any discomfort.

Will I have to replace the bridge?

Dental bridges typically last between 5 and 15 years, depending on your at-home oral hygiene regime and how often you visit us for preventative care. We recommend you a visit to our dental hygienist for dental check-ups and cleanings twice a year to prolong the life of your dental bridge.

At Dentique Specialist Centre, we are committed to your oral health and wellness. If you would like us to assess your smile and help you determine the best solution for your missing teeth, call us on 020 8360 0500.
